The Greyhound and Lurcher two-week takeover is back

Burgess Pet Care is delighted to announce that its Greyhound and Lurcher Two-Week Takeover campaign, which highlights the wonderful work of the UK's greyhound and lurcher rescue organisations, is back for 2024.

Launched in 2019, the Burgess Greyhound & Lurcher Two-Week Takeover – which this year runs from 29 January to 11 February 2024 – also donates thousands of pounds worth of Burgess dog food to rescue centres across the UK.

The 2024 campaign features real life stories, greyhounds and lurchers looking for their forever homes, super photos and top tips on Burgess' Facebook and Instagram pages - and the pet food manufacturer is asking the UK's dog lovers to nominate their favourite independent greyhound and lurcher rescue centre to receive a share of £20,000 worth of Burgess Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher food.

In 2023, Burgess received more than 3,000 nominations, with six winning rescue centres receiving delicious and nutritious Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher food.

Peter Lancaster, Head of Marketing at Burgess Pet Care, said:

"Unfortunately, greyhounds and lurchers need more support than ever as rescues are finding it extremely difficult cover their costs. It's testament to the commitment of the people running the rescues that they have continued with their amazing work to rehome and support the health and happiness of these beautiful animals.

"With the support of our new campaign partner, Raystede, we are determined to make this year's Greyhound & Lurcher Two-Week Takeover the biggest yet.

"Burgess is committed to improving the lives of these gorgeous dogs year-round, which is why for every sack of Burgess Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher food sold, we'll continue to donate 20p in the form of free food to Greyhound and Lurcher rescues in the UK."

Kay FitzGerald-Gorham of Lurcher Link, one of the previous winning rescues, added: -

"Because of the generous donation of Greyhound and Lurcher food we received from Burgess, we've been able to allocate more of our funds to saving dogs who might otherwise have been put to sleep without specialist vet treatment and give them a chance of a new home. We're so grateful for this campaign and Burgess' support."
